William Harper began his career as an artist at the age of ten; he has worked in both pencil and oil for over fifty years. He attended the Art Institute in Chicago from 1958 -1959, where he studied figure drawing and design. His preferred genres are realism and surrealism. His artwork portrays a wide range of subject matter and theme, with the bulk of his work depicting landscapes, seascapes, and still lifes.

William Harper's work can be seen at various art shows and cultural events in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.
